ChronoBalance Natural Omega-3 Oil for Dogs
Almost no other additive has as many positive properties as omega-3 fatty acids. In addition to enhancing normal body function, omega-3 fatty acids have beneficial effects on the musculoskeletal system, heart, nervous system and skin. Omega-3 fatty acids are classified as essential fatty acids because the body is unable to self-produce them. Supplementation through the diet is the only way to fulfill the requirements.
Presented as an oil, omega-3 has been shown to have positive effects on muscle metabolism and anti-inflammatory within the body, thereby improving chronic pain which may occur from osteoarthritis. Even in a case of illnesses, it shows signs of itchy or irritated skin problems. Therefore, daily use of omega-3 oil is suitable for all dogs, they are ill, have an increased risk of illness or wish to prevent disease.
Dog with Lameness: Can Omega-3 Oil Help?
Especially in their older years, many dogs suffer from musculoskeletal problems such as osteoarthritis. However, the up-keep of healthy joints can be supported by the diet. The flexibility of joints can be improved by the daily administration of omega-3 oil, and if painkillers are already administered, that dose can often be reduced. Improvements may also be observed in dog’s cognitive performance, studies in dogs with refractory epilepsy have shown a reduction in seizure frequency and severity. When subjects were given omega-3 oil, it was also noted that kidney disease progressed more slowly and increased protection against heart arrhythmia was observed.
The most important elements contained in omega-3 fatty acids are eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid (EPA and DHA), which are especially found in fatty cold-water fish. They are present in some vegetable products such as linseed oil, walnuts or special algae preparations, but predominantly in the form of alpha-linolenic acid which still needs to be converted into EPA and DHA.
